Story

In 2017, following the birth of my daughter and my own journey with birth trauma and postpartum depression, I utilized my experience as both a seasoned Psychotherapist and survivor of a perinatal mood disorder to create Life After Birth®. After several years of helping women through the metamorphosis of motherhood I was called to expand my offerings and grow the community I’d built even larger.
Giving birth to my daughter, and experiencing postpartum depression, was the beginning of a full identity rupture—what I now understand as the process of matrescence. I was already a licensed therapist with tools, training, and resources, but none of that made me immune to what was happening.
Although I was armed with tools, resources and knowledge, I discovered that professional training doesn’t grant immunity. The experience broke me, but also transformed me, allowing me to step into the “wounded healer archetype”—a role that became the foundation for my mission. As I began to recover, I felt called to stand in that same vulnerable space for other women and create what I couldn’t find during my own postpartum season: real, nuanced support for new parents who are navigating the massive transition that happens after birth. Life After Birth® was born shortly after.
It started with a single support circle I facilitated weekly, and over time, it’s grown into a full team of therapists and a comprehensive offering of services for both individuals and couples. Our work is centered around the very thing I longed for when I was in it—space to be seen, held, and understood in the rawness and beauty of early parenthood.

The Growth of Our Team
My personal experience with PPD is at the heart of my work, but my clinical background grounds it. I hold a Master’s in Counseling Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute and have trained extensively in perinatal mental health through Postpartum Support International. I draw from psychodynamic, relational, and somatic frameworks and continue to integrate the personal with the professional in everything I do.
The therapists on my team are all trained in the Life After Birth® model I developed. They’ve completed specialized training, and they receive ongoing consultation and mentorship directly from me. This means that whether you’re working with me or one of my associates, you’re getting care that is deeply aligned with our shared mission: to support the whole person (not just the parent) and to honor the profound shift that happens after birth.
We are clinicians who meet people in the messy middle of becoming. We understand that even when you "have everything," you can still feel lost, anxious, disconnected, or unlike yourself. You don’t have to wait until you’re at your breaking point to ask for help. This work is about remembering yourself as you become someone new.
Welcome to Life After Birth. I’m so glad you’re here.
