Postpartum-Focused Associate Therapist Position (Virtual / CA)
Support healing, identity, and transformation
in life after birth.
About the Role
We’re looking for a compassionate, grounded, and collaborative associate therapist (AMFT, APCC, or ASW) to join our team and work directly with individuals navigating the emotional, physical, and relational complexities of the postpartum experience.
At Life After Birth, we understand that birth is not just a moment… it’s a major identity shift. We support clients moving through grief, anxiety, rage, relational tension, hormonal and physical shifts, spiritual disconnection, and identity reconstruction. This role is ideal for a clinician drawn to depth work, who’s curious about the transition into parenthood, and who feels called to serve new parents through the lens of trauma-informed and somatic care.
What You’ll Do
Offer psychotherapy to clients (individuals, couples, or families) through virtual and/or in-person sessions, depending on your location.
Support a range of experiences including:
postpartum depression or anxiety
grief following loss or unmet expectations
identity shifts after becoming a parent
relational challenges during early parenthood
birth trauma
Lead process groups for individuals through their experiences from pregnancy to postpartum.
Maintain timely documentation in our EHR system.
Participate in weekly supervision and monthly team consultation.
Uphold client care, ethics, and communication standards.
Who You Are
A registered associate (AMFT, APCC, or ASW) in California.
Warm, relational, and skilled in trauma-informed care.
Drawn to working with the postpartum population and willing to learn through direct experience and supervision.
Comfortable holding space for grief, ambiguity, anger, and transformation.
Familiar with or curious about somatic, relational, and depth-oriented approaches.
Organized, responsive, and respectful of collaborative work.
Comfortable with Telehealth and open to in-person work as needed and if in the Los Angeles area.
What We Offer
Weekly individual supervision with a licensed clinician who specializes in postpartum healing.
Monthly group consultation with other like-minded therapists.
Flexible scheduling to support your lifestyle and clinical goals.
Admin support for scheduling, billing, and onboarding.
A connected team of clinicians who are collaborative and reflective.
Opportunities to participate in community workshops, blogs, or events (if desired).
